So I haven't been posting much lately, as I have been pretty busy. Joomstation development has been going pretty well. I now how a team of students that I am leading through the development cycle. We have changed the features and have given the process much more thought, so I think it is going to be very clean project. I have been swamped in development assignments, treading water in my mobile applications class, but I have been doing pretty good with my algorithms class. I have been doing excellent at the projects, though I am concerned about how I will do on the exams, as the implementation of knowledge varies. I have also put thought into my independent study for algorithms and have decided on encryption, which has inspired my refined desire for an independent capstone next year. I am developing a multilayer pacman game this semester, I am hoping to get some sort of visible work, even if it doesn't work, up and running. In other news, I got a job, which is a bit of a relief, and thus far it has been working out pretty nicely. I have been assigned one web development project, which I will start working on once I take care of some of my assignments.

I am at the Radio Station these days. Since I have so much free time on Mondays and Wednesdays I am going to be spending a lot of time programming for JoomStation!. Hopefully I will have a beta up and running within a month of at least everything but the Auto-DJ. I am also now working on Communet concurrently, and will be designing a mobile application this semester, though I am having trouble figuring out what. Hopefully I will think of something good. Right now running ideas are folding@home, bittorrent, or a mobile webplayer to install into Joomla!, so that mobile phones that go to your website will be redirected to a mobile friendly section of the site, where it offers a webplayer to listen to the JoomStation! radio stream.

The Planning and development phase is a lot more complicated than I had anticipated. I am working on developing the Component's back end now, organizing the management options is proving difficult. In other news, I got my A+ Certification. Next I am going to work on my MCSE Windows 2003 and CEH. I will spend more time today (Friday) trying to sort out the back end. So far the only thing I haven't figured out other than the FTP connection, is how to ensure the AUTODJ and AUTOPODCAST applications have a secure connection to the Joomla installation, and ensure that the methods they use can not be exploited. We'll see.

I am trying to stay semi-regular with my posts, sorry I'm so irregular, but been caught up lately with friends and odd jobs. But I have been working on the webplayer module, and made the wise decision to use XML for all communication, which I think will work out. I am still looking into using XML in Joomla, but I am sure I will pick it up in no time. I am growing wary of the schedule I set, It appears I am not progressing as fast as I once hoped, but then again I haven't been working as rigorously as I should have. Hopefully I will pick up the pace now that I have gotten much out of the way. I will practice and work on my PHP further this evening and hopefully give you an update tomorrow or Friday.

Well it has been a while since I have given an update. I haven't accomplished much, getting distracted by the holidays. But I have done a little work, actionscript 3's support for XML makes life a lot easier for transferring data which is great. I just need to study Joomla fiercely and I just might be able to actually make some real progress by the end of the week. It is a shame my PHP isn't stronger, or I might be moving a bit faster. But se la vi! The web player should be a very simple module, with the exception of the request integration, which is basically a separate module tacked onto it. But the hardest part will looks like just finishing the code for my component and the AIR AutoDJ.
